I went and saw Rush in concert. LOL If you know me, you know that it isn't exactly my type of music and what most people say, is that you either love 'em or hate 'em. I have to say that I honestly feel sorta in between about them. The BF is the fan... huge fan actually and I have been trying to win tickets for him for the last month or so. By Friday, no winnings, (BUMMER) so I decided to surprise him and try to find someone selling their tickets online for a decent price. Well lo and behold I DID. Not only did I find a great person that was selling them, but I got us on the floor, 9th row! HA! Pretty cool for last minute I gotta say.

When I saw the BF later in the day, I asked him that if he had nose bleed seats to the concert, would he go. He looked at me funny and said, "Only if you got them for free." (He didn't want me spending the cash etc.) So I just pushed and asked him if he would GO. He said 'yeah' and and I said, "GREAT! You're going, but you'll be sitting on the floor 9th row!!" HEEHEE!!! He was stunned and couldn't believe it. The look on his face was priceless!! Of course, I went as well since I bought the darn things and honestly, had a great time. Those 3 guys are some of the most talented artists in the biz and it was a treat to see them up close like that. Geddy Lee, the lead singer plays the bass and is pretty damn talented at it too. It's always amazing to see someone singing and playing bass because I am told it's a lot more difficult to do that. Then there is Alex Lifeson the guitarist. WOW... this man can play! Of course, last, but not the least is Neil Peart their drummer. The guy has a kit that's built in a circle and it moves around so he can play different drums. I think the highlight for me was watching him play the coolest solo EVER. He had every possible type of drum in there along with other pieces. He is apparently considered one of the best drummers in the world, and after seeing him play live, I've got to agree. All them are considered masters of their craft. If you ever get a chance to see any of them play, it's worth it just to see the perfection of their art. The music is good and the lyrics are intelligent too.

The concert had a lot of humour as well with video clips that were hilarious and with cameos of famous folk in them. The pyrotechnics were really neat too... I've never been to a concert with something like that.... and I guess if you have, you know the blast of heat that roars over the audience when it does. That was cool.

Above all was the giddy, happy grins of the BF as he was enjoying his time. They haven't played in our city since 1982 I believe and being that they are 'gettin on in years, it may be the last opportunity to see them in town. So we HAD to go, just 'cause!

It was a memorable concert and I had a great time. :) I say GO if you can!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-01T03:52:12Z</dcterms:modified>

The Sixty One

I just found a pretty cool music site on my net ramblings... well, thanks to the BF actually. He's the one who intro'd me to it. It's called "The Sixty One".

Basically it's a site that helps introduce you to some new tunes and allows you to rate them and bring your favourites to the top of the list/front page. All the music is loaded by the artists themselves, you can listen to the entire song and save it in your play list or choose to never hear it again. The sound quality is great as well. While doing all this, you gain 'experience points' that allow you to 'bump' songs up higher on the scale. There is a pretty decent variety so far considering it's still in it's Beta form. I'm enjoying it and finding some pretty neat cool tunes. It's free to sign up and listen, and if you wish to buy the mp3, it has a link to the Amazon mp3 downloader.

It's a great way to support the artists and fun to hear some stuff you may not normally hear on the radio etc.

Tell 'em Kalli2B sent ya!! Enjoy!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-22T12:16:16Z</dcterms:modified>

3 Year Old

Guess what? This blog is just over 3 years old!! Wooopeeee! I know, you are just as excited as I am. It actually turned 3 in April... even though I haven't been blogging half as much as I used to, I was pretty proud of this little personal tidbit. The Treehouse has gone through a lot of growing pains over the years... and now, I am considering jumping ship. Oh no no, I don't mean quitting blogging, I mean jumping the MSN ship. Similar to what our friend Josh did. I think it would be fun to be able to design my blog how I WANT it to be without having to bend to the will of the "all-powerful-MSN-Oz" sometimes. Not that it is something I will do in a short while... this takes a lot of time to do and that is something I don't have at them moment. It's SPRING!! Soon to be SUMMER and this weekend is 3 days!!! (As all should be in MY opinion). So that isn't something I will pondering for a wee bit yet.

I am looking forward to this weekend though. 3 days off and the weather is SUPPOSED to be lovely! I'll be breaking my winter gelati fast tonight... get to go to Nucci's which is the ONLY place in Winnipeg to get gelati. They make it fresh and at the store... you can't beat that. Then, perhaps a drive to the country with the BF on Saturday... See fam on Sunday and Monday, who knows!!!! I can't wait!!!

Anyhow, gotta finish off my day, have a good one peeps!

Some things have to be believed to be seen.
-Ralph Hodgson

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-16T15:10:34Z</dcterms:modified>

Where the heck have you been!?

Around... Out and about... or, "oot and aboot" as some people seem to think we Canadians say it... which I don't.

Time slips by easily when you're having fun I suppose. Got a long weekend coming up and am looking forward to that. Not too sure yet what I'll be doin, but it won't be gelatinating. Even though I've sealed some of my fate to couch-potato land by starting to watch the entire Buffy The Vampire Slayer series. Promised myself I wouldn't do it, but lo and behold!! I did. Currently working on season 3 and enjoying every minute of it! Basically it's my after work programing or when I'm not in the mood to read or whatever. I'm sure it will take me quite awhile to get it finished, but that's okay, rainy day stuff is always good to have.

I've also been feeding my Lost addiction... only 3 more episodes and it's over for another 6+ months!! Freeking awesome show that deserves more accolades that it receives from the TV people community. Apparently John's been instructed to move the island... hehe My theory is that it's not the island itself they move, but the conduits that lead to it. I have too many other theories in my head right now to type it all down and bore anyone who may actually read this. So I'll stop on that one.

Purchased SingStar for dear PD... I think she likes it... we'll have to see. Can't wait to pop over to her place to have a spin at it.

Work sucks... that's all I intend to write on THAT subject.

Spring is here, I'm just waiting for the lilacs to come out... gonna be a wee bit yet as the leaves are just poking out of the trees. I'm sure by this weekend, if the weather holds we'll have some lovely greenery to gaze at. I love this time of year, it's like a thaw for the mind and body. After seeing nothing but white and grey for months on end, this time of year is truly rejuvenating. Lord knows I need it.

Anyhoooo off to work again... fun times. la la

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-14T16:20:17Z</dcterms:modified>

Keep On Truckin'

I'm still here, still alive. No ridiculous & dramatic jumping off buildings.

Had a busy weekend. Celebrated my oldest friend's birthday, which was fun. Took Noni with me too, and I think she had a good time as well. lol It was like standing in some weird vortex with both those ladies. The only person I've known longer than Noni was my friend, M. So it was cool to have them both in the same room. Highlight was when we got to play SingStar for the PS2. What a fun game! I even got Noni to sing one song with me. While I will admit, not as fun as Rock Band (Yes, I'm still an addict), it was a good time and I was very impressed with the music selections. OH yeah, it's not only the music selections, but they include the original videos etc. and THAT was way cool to watch all of those old 80's vids. The BF tells me they're coming out with a PS3 version that's supposed to be awesome... hmmmmmm I know for sure PD would LOVE this game, it's all about the singin'. hehe

What else? I still have some of the blues, but today, the sun is shining and the weather ain't too bad, so I'll take it and use it for my "try-to-be-a-bit-more-positive-attitude". The opportunity I was hoping for fell through so I've gotta stop mourning somehow and get back on my feet again. All I do know is that my stress levels and blue-tone are NOT helping me here. Hopefully I can change that before the week is through.

Keep on truckin' right?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-14T16:10:08Z</dcterms:modified>

New Roomie

Yeah, yeah, I've lapsed again into a coma and not made any entries. I used to be so good at this! WTF? Seems I'm falling on more than one thing lately. I'm sure all my friends IRL are ready to disown me as I haven't been going out with them as much lately. I have good intentions, but sometimes, I just crap out and stay home, sleep, watch TV or do... nothing. Are these signs of depression? Or perhaps some chick who's going through menopause early? pfffft I dunno. I'm also finding it a lot more difficult than I thought balancing a BF and GFs. Weird that. I have been single for so long, I forgot what it's like to have a real relationship and the balancing act it takes between time with him, and time with my girls. It's hard to do. Especially because I'm in the best relationship of my life...seriously. And I think I'm qualified to determine that correctly as well. I guess I don't want to throw it in their faces sometimes. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough with them though... perhaps I need to become more of an A-Type personality and just schedule myself to death and be crazily pro-active? Uh-huh, cause I'm reeeeeeeeeal good at THAT one. lol Guess I'll have to start making more plans and doing more things in the future to hold on to my small list of friends, if they are not sick of my antics already.

In regards to my title... I will have a roommate for the next month. My mum. She needed a place to stay until May 1st when she gets possession of her apartment... so I offered. I must have been feeling REALLY nice that day as I don't know why I did this. I love my mum, it's just that she's crazy sometimes and even though her dear piratical daughter is 35 years old, she still feels the need to pressure me with unwanted advice and opinions. Ah well, that's a mother for ya. On a positive note; Simon and Oliver will have more company, my mum LOVES doing my dishes... LOL, and she's a great cook. That is, if she has time to do so. Oh yeah, and I needed to do spring cleaning anyhow, so now I've got the pressure to get my condemned apartment in order before she gets here on Sunday.

On the work front... well, things here are psychotic as usual. In fact, more so. My attitude has worsened (if that was possible) and I am ready to fly the coop. But never fear, I'm going to fix that problem REALLY soon. Sooner than some probably think. Not gonna jinx things ATM, I'll let you know if I have an announcement to make.

Time to get back to purgatory now. Apparently there's a meeting today that I wasn't informed of. Dontcha LOVE that kinda thing? weeee

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-04-03T15:21:02Z</dcterms:modified>

Earth Hour

TOMORROW is Earth Hour... be sure to turn off EVERYTHING between 8-9pm your time. Make a difference!!!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-03-28T12:50:13Z</dcterms:modified>

School of Rock II

I sure hope Chuck had a good time on Friday. We kept the guy up until very late playing Rock Band. But DAYAM it was FUN and I think he did a good job for someone who had never played before! Thanks to all who helped Chuck feel welcome and we look forward to another visit soon!

This week, we've lost our singer as she's off on vacay. So the two of us have been practicing our "instruments" and I gotta say, our drummer is getting pretty darned good... I'm VERY impressed. I've attempted the medium level on the guitar, but I am not ashamed to admit I still have a lot to learn. I made it through my first song without getting booed, but it was with a lot of frustration. Cheri - if you can bring an extra guitar, you're more than welcomed to come over to play base! :)) Haven't seen you in FOREVER girl! R bought the Police music pack... hehe... THAT would be fun to try on base.

Anyhow, to enhance my true geekiness, I made up a radio station on Finetune that has most of the songs from Rock Band on it. I didn't know some of the songs that are available, so I wanted to be able to listen to them a bit. Honestly, I could be quite happy without the Metallica & Black Sabbath songs. Even in the 80's when I was a young lass... har har.... I didn't care for that music. I shall include my station in this entry in case you're interested.

Nothing else much to report in my otherwise boring life atm. We're having a bit of a nice weather spurt, so I'm not complaining right now. Of course, the weather is supposed to turn back to crap by the end of the week so I can go on being bitter about it then.

Work sucks as usual... in fact, it's worse really. But I won't sing my song of "woah is me" right now. It's not worth it. Much better to continue my search for broader horizons and opportunity. I hear they're hiring in Romania....

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-03-11T14:30:47Z</dcterms:modified>

School of Rock

Last night I joined a band. I'm the guitar player... PD is our singer and R is our drummer. The name of our band is "Tardis"... but due to copyright laws we may need to change it. pfffft

How did we start our band? ROCK BAND!! The BEST game EVER!!!!!

Now I've tried Guitar Hero and thought it was pretty darned neat... but THIS game. WOW. This game is fantastic fun.

Last night we were up until almost 2am... which normally wouldn't be a big deal except 2/3 of us had to get up for work in the morn. Our lead singer has to get up as well, but not as early... lucky thing. But I tell ya, it was WORTH IT!

I can't say enough how much fun this game was! We all tried our hand at the different instruments/mic. I didn't mind singing either but guitar is quite fun. Can't wait until we can add a base player... hehe And I know EXACTLY who would be PERFECT for the job. Keep grinnin Noni cause I'm talkin about YOU!!

It's so addictive but so amazing. I highly recommend you try it if you already haven't. Currently we've got a pretty neat tour bus and are working on our fan base. The game is so "realistic" in that way. You gain fans, a manager, tour dates, better transport etc. etc. etc. I think we played for 3 hours and my fingers STILL hurt, but what an awesome time.

BIG BIG thanks to my band mates and I can't wait to go on tour with you again!

LMAO!!

Tonight, we get to see our pal Chuck who's in town. Perhaps we need to bring him into our rock n'roll fold? hehe

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-03-07T13:53:19Z</dcterms:modified>

How Did You Do That???

Okay, so with all the strangers popping by here lately, and leaving me the same type of Q's via Guestbook, messages etc. I figured I'd answer them in one big swoop-o-rama.

"How did you make your space like that?" the saddle again.

This is going to be a short entry as I don't have much time, but I just wanted to ask if anyone is a LOST fan out there?? Is anyone playing "Find815"??? Just curious.
I was filling out a survey and in the age range section, I'm a step up. LOL

Birthday went by without a hitch because I'm actually celebrating this Saturday instead of NYE. People are just too busy this time of year and I hate making them celebrate my b-day on NYE... it simply isn't fair. So sushi, karaoke and maybe some wee partying after that. I can't wait! All I need to do is get over my cold and I'm cool. Yup, I'm sick...again dammit. Advil Cold and Sinus, take me away!!! I would just like to officially thank PD for my cold btw. If it wasn't for you girl, I would never have had this experience. But I love her all the same.

I realised this year how much I despise having a birthday over the holidays. I'm a birthday freak btw. I LOVE birthdays and I love celebrating friend's special days. It's what I do! (when I can) I think it's because mine is at such a sucky time of the year, I go overboard with trying to plan things out for friends. I'm not always successful, but I try when I can. The only other person I know who has it shittier than I, is my friend Cath. Her b-day is on xmas day, AND SO IS HER OLDER SISTER'S! Okay, that totally sucks rocks. 'Cause not only does your thunder get taken away by the holiday season and all those pathetic "combo gifts", but you gotta share it with your SISTER. My deepest condolences go out to Cath every year, along with the "happy b-day" wishes etc.

My dear friend Alli, who's birthday falls on the 27th of Dec. was listening to CBC radio and found a great little clip from DNTO (Definitely Not The Opera) regarding birthdays during the holiday season. So I shall provide those of you that are curious to the 30 min MP3 Podcast. I find it especially helpful for those of you who have friends with their birthdays around the holidays, you can understand where their minds are. It's not completely on the birthday thing, but the first few clips are great. Click HERE for the Podcast. You can also find it in iTunes if you're interested in listening through there.

Between November and January, almost ALL of my closest friends (including me) have their birthdays. Isn't that SICK??? Just thought I'd play the mini violin for a moment. Especially at the end of December... totally crazy. A bunch of us are thinking of leaving town for December of this year so we can avoid Christmas altogether and just celebrate our birthdays instead. I kinda like that idea. Christmas is no biggie to me, I'd rather eat cake and drink fruity, slushy bevvies someplace fantastic.

Anyhow, I hope that all of you had a great holiday season, and are trudging along into 2008 with bells on! Time for me to get back to work and blow my nose a few more times. HAaaaaa Haaaa Blah.

Read you later!

PS: Happy birthday (again) Melisa... LMAO Join our club!!!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-01-09T17:25:37Z</dcterms:modified>

OYE

Okay, I'm here. Not much time though. My stoopid home PC is on the fritz. SUCKS!!! NOT the best time of year to have this happen. Then, work is getting busier too so now I have even LESS opportunity to get in here.

The PC is being worked on by my local geek hero, so hopefully he can save it from doom. Last I heard, he was sayin that I may lose everything on my HD. I DON'T THINK SO. hehe cough. Seriously dude, get my crap out of there, and THEN wipe it clean and start fresh. But not sure what it is, so don't ask the uninitiated.

What else??? hmmmmm Christmas is fast approaching and I have a HUGE party to host this Saturday. It's my annual potluck dinner. Crazy times. I highly doubt there will be as many folk as last year, but here's hopin! LOL Last year, 42 ppl in my WEE apartment was NOT cool. So this year, we are hosting it an alternate location. Should be good times, good food and most of all, great company. I can't wait... but I'm feeling extra stressed because it's not at my house, so prep is gonna have to be more organised than I'm use to... LOL I wish I could invite all my blogland buddies for the ride... I'm sure you would have a good time. Not only do we have food, but we play games and there's prizes! ROTFLMAO Really, it's fun, I promise!

December is always my worst month for blogging anyhow, so really, one shouldn't be surprised at my absence. Except it's a forced one being no pc at home. Gawd. It's like my leg has been cut off!! SO not fair! Oh well. I can't sit here and whine and moan all day about it. I have one or two lovely things in my life to be happy about, so it's not all that bad. One of them being a person of the male persuasion. :-o More on THAT one at a later date. HAHA!!!

Then they all say, "oooooooooh yeaaaaaaah THAT is the REAL reason why Kalli hasn't been around." And you know what I'd say to that? You're probably correct in some ways, but not all. hehe

Okay, the bosslady is on her way back and I gotta work again. Sorry for the missing-ness and all that blah... I'm alright though, just really hectic. I STILL have to buy christmas gifts! EEESH!!! I am a last-minute pirate girl.

Happy Hol's to all and hopefully I'll be back sooner than later!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-12-10T21:12:10Z</dcterms:modified>

Lost and Found

Monday was an icky day. You know how things always happen in threes? Well, on the bus on the way to work, I sat down to read my book as usual. Because the weather has turned and it was a balmy -25C out, I was wrapped up like an Inuit in a snowstorm. Therefore, I took off my gloves and placed them on my lap. Not a bad idea. Not a good one either. USUALLY I tuck them into my bag or my pockets for reasons that are to become obvious in a moment. When I got up to get out, I forgot that they were there, and they got flung to the floor. As I frantically looked around to find them, a girl on the bus grabbed one of them from the floor as she was exiting and passed it to me, THANK YOU STRANGER-GIRL! But I couldn't find the other one. I ended up getting off the bus without my other glove. I was heartbroken because I love these gloves and have managed to keep them for over 2 years.

In my state of discombobulation, I started digging through my bag in hopes that MAYBE I was spaced-out and did in fact place them there. Whilst doing this, I crossed the street-against traffic. Yes, I looked up to find a herd of cars glaring at me as I was distractedly shoveling through my bag in the middle of the busy street. Gawd. Obviously I made it across safely with probably only a couple of drivers wondering, "WTF is wrong with that chick!!?"

Trudging sullenly to work, mourning the loss of my favourite glove, I pondered the meaning of cold on my naked right hand.

#3 = I get into the office, start to take off my bazillion layers and realise I forgot my lunch at home and have no money on me to buy some! As Alexander said, it was a "terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day!"

I made sure EVERYONE knew about it too... because that's just the type of ranting maniac I can be.

Yesterday; I got off the bus, and looked down, and there, encrusted in the freshly fallen snow, was my glove! My dear, dear, favourite glove that my mum gave me for Christmas one year, was staring up at me, almost grinning, as if to say, "See? I wouldn't abandon you!"

I feel much better now.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-11-28T14:09:49Z</dcterms:modified>

Busy

Active, assiduous, at work, buried, diligent, employed, engaged, engrossed, full plate, hustling, in conference, industrious, occupied, on assignment, on duty, overloaded, persevering, slaving, snowed, swamped, tied up, unavailable.

(sigh)

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-11-26T13:56:10Z</dcterms:modified>

Better?

Alright, so I'm feeling a bit better from yesterday. I'm not so "snippy" as I was over the last few days. I haven't run someone over, spit or flipped "the bird" either... so I figure I'm doin pretty good!

Went to see a movie last night instead of staying home. I realised this morning that I missed Heroes... Yes Melisa... I know, I know.... was it any good? I guess I should see if I can find it online to watch. I saw the movie, Stardust. I thought it was a pretty cool movie, but I like all that crazy fantasy stuff. I WOULD like to see it on a better screen with nicer sound as we saw it in the cheap theatre... so it was also cheap-sounding. Too bad, but it was still a fun watch. Typical faery-tale like story. I hear it's a book, so I would like to read that as well. Ahhhh add more to my list.

Anyhow, I'm at work and slacking off. Bad me. Just thought I'd pop in and say,
"Hi, I'm not crazy."

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-11-13T17:40:57Z</dcterms:modified>

A Day Late

So I was supposed to start writing something in my blog every day for the month of November... I dropped the ball yesterday. Not from lack of wanting to enter something in here, but from busy busy-ness etc. I used to be able to find time to do this every day, so what has changed from the last couple of years? Hmmmmm Life? HA!

I found a good quote yesterday on my "daily quotes of the day" so I figured I would share it with blogland. Rocas is really good at this and those quotes always lead to some inspiration, so here I go;

"The one serious conviction that a man should have is that nothing is to be taken too seriously." (Nicolas Butler)

I kinda got a chuckle out of that one and figured there is a good point to be made there. I need to not take this too seriously right now and just enjoy. I can do it!! For you Melisa, I shall endeavor to join the masses and do a blog-a-day... even if it SUCKS! LOL

My health is WAY better than last week and I am determined to not get sick again. Going to continue with my supplements and fight back at those nasty viruses that are flying around like little evil demons with wings.

Speaking of winged demons...

Anyone watch the new Doctor Who series? I know there are some fellow geeks out there!! I just wanted to say that I LOVE the new series and David Tennant who is the "new" doctor for seasons 2 & 3 just rocks! I highly suggest you check it out if you haven't already. I remember as a kid watching it on public TV with my dad... the old series... they were CHEESY!! But still fun to watch. The new series is glossier and the sets are amazing. Plus, the CG stuff is incredible! My friend lent me seasons 1 & 2 on DVD and it's just AWESOME! I'm addicted now. But damn, don't watch it before bed... screws around with the mind at night I tell ya. You'll know what I mean if you watch it. (-;

Well, time to jump back into work mode. I gotta fly!! Read ya later!!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-06-30T18:19:54Z</dcterms:modified>

Happy Halloween 2007

And it's SNOWING too! Gotta love Winnipeg.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-10-31T15:44:21Z</dcterms:modified>

I am not a hermit... really!

You guys rock. No seriously! I ended up buying a Cold FX/Emergen C store equivallent and it seems to be helping. I'm finally starting to feel human again. I've spent so much time sleeping, if that doesn't do the trick, I don't know what does. I swear my friends IRL probably think my apartment swallowed me up as I haven't been around too much to answer the phone... sorry guys.

Hosted the party on Saturday and it turned out alright. A LOT of people couldn't make it for various reasons but the main one was that they were sick too. There are some EVIL viruses going around. We had fun, we ate a lot (or rather everyone else did, I pecked at everything...lol). I will post photos this week. Wait until you see my BRAIN. LOL

Thanks for all your suggestions, I forgot to mention that I am allergic to the Nyquil. That stuff gives me the hives... fun stuff eh? I did try lemon tea with honey as well as some other homeopathic remedies which seem to be assisting in my recovery too. I actually prefer to allow a bug to ride out so that my body learns to naturally defend against it. It worked last winter because I didn't get this kind of sick once. Not even a sniffle. Guess my luck ran out this year. So now it's the battle of the immune system...rarrrr

Time to rush off to work/purgatory. Hopefully it will be a better day than last. I almost killed yesterday. Sometimes, I have no patience for stupidity. Then I got home and crashed. It was crazy!!! Sorry Cousine & PD, I will call you today!!

What is everyone dressing up as for Halloween? Just curious.

:)

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-10-30T13:05:38Z</dcterms:modified>

Home Remedies?

I'm sick again.

I'm so sick of being sick.

This time, it's taken on the form of a head cold. I'm madly fighting
it with all types of juice, vitamins, tea and rest... so fun. Sad part
is that I am not the only one that I know where the illness involves a
nose running over or a sore throat or coughing so hard it hurts. Not
only that, but it lasts for over a week!! What is it with these
viruses that swoop in and destroy? Well I know the answer to that, I'm
just shaking my fist at the sky right now in frustration... allow me
this indulgence please.

Anyhow, so I was just wondering if anyone has any magical home remedies
that can save my friends and I from this nightmare of hacking and snot.

I've got a Halloween bash to host tomorrow and I am going to need all the energy I can muster. Today I will be purchasing some Cold FX in hopes that it will at least get me through the night without collapsing by 9pm.

Any suggestions are welcome.

I'm going to blow my nose now.... again.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-10-26T12:52:45Z</dcterms:modified>

Frustrated, Discombobulated & Oh yeah, Happy Too!

Okay, so let's get the first part outta the way shall we? Yes, I've been busy, sick and just... busy. My deepest regrets in not being around much lately but life sometimes grabs you by the butt and pushes you around in directions you never thought possible! Needless to say, I am feeling dramatically better than I have been over the last 4 weeks and for that I am most thankful. I've temporarily stepped off my little roller coaster to pop into my poor and fading treehouse to update it and assure you that I am still alive.

What else?

I never really reported on the great time I had hosting our dear, blogging friend, Mitchell in the 'Peg! What an awesome time... at least I felt so. LOL Such a short amount of time to absorb so much... I hope that you didn't go back home thinking you didn't do enough Mitchell! My favourite moment was taking him to the museum. Way fun! Least fave was when he started asking us a bunch of historical Q's regarding our history and we couldn't answer him... LMAO I guess we all fell asleep in that lecture...hehe sssshhh!! I haven't posted the photos as of yet but will do so after typing out what looks to be a rather long missive. Thank you for coming out Mitchell! I'm only sorry we couldn't spend more time hanging out. Someday, I hope to come out and visit you Arizona-folk someday. :)

Hmmmm lemme seeeeeee....

Got to see Loreena McKennitt in concert again. THAT was awesome! My friend scored a couple of comp tix from a rep she knows and asked me if I wanted to come along. DID I!!?? OF COURSE!! We had wonderful seats and it was just a beautiful and magical concert. Of course, I expect nothing less from Loreena! I truly felt blessed to have had a second opportunity to see her and I'm STILL most thankful to Miss T for the invite. You rock girl!!! :-))) (PS: Loreena is touring the US right now... you should check out your local listings for her... if you have the opportunity, GO AND SEE HER!!! Click HERE for the concert listings)

Also saw Crowded House at the beginning of the month. WOW!! Another fab time with my most fab friend, Alli! I love Crowded House... I hold a special place for them as they were the first band I ever saw in concert! As sad as it was to know that they lost one of their members, the group is still strong and Neil's voice is still sharp. I love thier song writing and the way they paint a picture with their lyrics. Simply awesome.

Also...

I did the unthinkable... I am now on Facebook... AKA Satan's Tool. YES! It's is TRUE! I have CAVED! I blame the peer pressure from all of my irl friends who use the service. They insisted that it wasn't evil and that I would find it most convenient for keeping track of them and their lives and get-togethers etc. They also threatened to make a profile FOR me if I didn't sign up in a certain amount of time... no lie. So far, it's been fine, but I visit that place about as frequently as here. Only easy part is that I can leave a short note or whatever. Fun times. Anyhow, if you are on that evil site, lemme know via msg and I can add you to my wall of shame... I mean, FRIENDS. pffft hehe I haven't even been on that thing for a month and I already culled names off my "list". Such a silly thing. But hey, my little sister is on there and so it's nice to see her photos and stuff since she's not the blogging type. So I guess there are SOME cool things about it.

Okay, so now to my "frustrated" portion... this is the part where I rant and rave, so if you don't want the negative vibes, skip to the end. I mean it, don't say I didn't warn you.

Do you ever find that the people who complain the most about martyrs etc. are usually ones themselves? I know of one particular person who had said issue and has now evolved into probably the biggest, self-proclaimed martyr there is. I'm a bit ticked, watch out people. At risk of completely slamming said person, I shall refrain from being... too nasty. (I WILL try) But if said person happens to pop in here still to read my writings, then they know who they are. They also know what they've been saying about me as well. Some BS to make THEMSELVES feel better for the heinous acts they have committed to the people around them over the last year. Its funny how a person's mind can find the most retarded things to justify selfish behavior isn't it? Just remember "person" that when you take that long and pointy finger of yours and try to shove it in other people's faces, there are 3 more aimed right back at you. What else can I say without being overly revealing? How about, you're so full of shit I can smell you in a garbage dump? Or what about you just be thankful I don't say more in here than I can because THIS is restraint from me.... You have NO idea because you can't see past the nose on your face anyhow. So why even spend this paragraph writing about someone that doesn't matter to me anymore? Not sure... but I'm just pissed and haven't had a good long rant in awhile. Also, I simply have no tolerence for folk who think that the sun rises and sets on their ass. Own your own shit and people will respect you. Deny it and make excuses and you alienate everyone around you. Try going a bit deeper than your hair and make up and perhaps you will find a path to peace in your life. You told me once that I needed to get help for my probs... why don't you take your own advice first? Set a "good" example... if that's at all possible at this point. Stop acting like a martyr and own up to your crap and shut it about your perceived notions of what everyone ELSE is doing wrong. (In your eyes of course) Your deflection isn't working anymore - just thought I'd let you know that. You don't know me, and come to think of it, you never really did. That's sad. I guess I need more meat and potatoes in my friendships... not shallowness and childish tit-for-tat games. If there is one thing that you truly excelled at besides your acting abilities, was your penchant for game-playing. So bravo to you and good luck in whatever you do, as I believe you'll really need it. I truly hope that one day, your eyes will be fully open and that humble pie you seem to detest becomes the dessert that brings you back to reality.

fin

Sorry dear readers that you had to witness that. Sometimes my passion gets the better of me and I just gotta holler. That's the last you'll ever hear on THAT subject from me. Expunging one's anger is good. I know that some may disagree with my public way of it... but none of you know of whom I speak, nor do you most likely care either. For those who do, you already knew I felt this way so none of this should be shocking. It's nothing I haven't already said to you at one time or another. Don't like it, don't read it.

On to better and greater things in life.

As much as it doesn't look like it from that last stuff I wrote, I'm actually extremely happy. There are some personal things going on with me that I am tickled about. Plus, looks like my mum is finally getting on with her life - for this I am thrilled. The evil step-monster is about to be vanquished from our lives forever and I can't wait to celebrate. Not to mention, I have some other things to look forward to because of that. Can't say yet as it's not "official" but in time, you'll find out. But it's ALLLLL GOOD!

So now, it's costume-making time over the next week or so with Noni and doing some purchasing as well. THEN it's getting ready for the big partay that moi cousine and I shall be throwing. She's the coolest ever and totally creative! I can't wait to plan with you cousine! We're gonna make this the coolest halloween party EVER!!

Anyhow, it's getting late at work and I still have to pretend I am doing important things here. It's been great to catch up with you and as soon as I have free moments, I shall be doin the rounds. Writer's block abounds apparently... I also think that it's just that time of year. Where's the cute little creative fairy when we need her?

Hermit Ways

This was the most busy I've ever been to date this weekend. I am STILL trying to shake off the leftover effects and I'm not too sure if it's working. I feel like a cranky old woman hobbling about the office today... ah well.

I will have more photos to post but I haven't gotten around to them yet. Frankly, I have no drive to do much at all this week, even though I know I have stuff to do. Alli and I had a good laugh the other day about how we are doing more things, going out etc. than we have in the last few years. Plus, it's not about to end. September promises to be just a psychotic! I've got the Crowded House concert on Saturday.. and just to keep in time with all the craziness, I'm attending ANOTHER concert AFTER that one on the SAME night! How fun. It's a late night show so it'll all be good. I think I am making up for all the hours I've spent hermitizing etc.

It goes in spurts I suppose, all these feelings of withdrawl etc. Last year, close to this time, I sunk myself into a nasty depression and stayed that way for a few months. I think that now, I am making up for it or something. Or perhaps it's just Alli's fault? LMAO (sorry girl I had to) She has such a zest for life and always has these fun suggestions on what to do, where to go, etc. Since her return, my social schedule has skyrocketed! Not that I am complaining... because I'd be a fool to complain about something like THAT.

This morning, I again lamented that there are no licenses to breed for humans in this city. School was back in session and I am back to fighting for a seat or even standing room on the bus. Gone are my comfy mornings of curling up in my own seat, reading my book or just listening to my tunes or podcasts without having to smell/feel/hear a gaggle of teenagers. I hope it thins out as the week progresses and the kids get their schedules in order.

Hmmmm what else? Besides the fact that I am a jerkface for not visiting blogland as much? I'm tired today? I'm busy? I dunno. Like I told my friend via email this morn (you know who you are so THERE!) my coffee tastes like crap, my eyes feel like lead and I have no motivation for much today. Self-inflicted pain, but still, I feel like whining for a moment.

ok, I'm done.

So I just looked up top at the advert... wth? It's for the CIA... a JOB posting thingie! omg. Frightening that the CIA has to use banner ads to recruit. "Some heroes are inspired by the MISSION not the recognition" hmmmm how cute. I would almost make a song outta that if I wasn't so bagged right now.

Well, I gotta refill my coffee cup here. It's gone icky and that just won't do. For the last few survivors who actually still READ my poo, thanks for dropping by. Sorry I'm not very exciting lately. I can pretty much guarantee you that once the weather turns sour around here, I'll be available for a lot more bloggin. Fun times!

Until then, I shall wave bu-bye and humbly thank you for your patience.

I'm going now...

no really, this time for sure.

(sigh)

PS: Mitchell, can I tell everyone that you will be hanging out with the prairie pirates next weekend? :-)))
<img Required

Sleep... it escapes me sometimes... like during this last week.

Summer is such a busy time, especially August because we basically have one more month of good summer weather and then it starts going downhill. YES, I will try to be positive and consider that September can offer us some good weather as well... but I won't bank on it. So what have I been doing? Cramming in tonnes of activities and seeing as many people as I can. BUT!! It's been fun, so at least that is a good thing.

The gang and I went to the BEST social ever (Thank you Catherine for the tix) and we had an AMAZING time. It was probably in the worst neighbourhood our city has to offer, but the coolest venue. It was the first social I've been to that had a live band and a pinata! lol It was also the first social that was environmentally conscious and we were asked to re-use our plastic cups or bring our own. They also asked that we ride our bikes if possible. THAT was just awesome! We didn't ride our bikes (I don't own one presently anyhow) but we car pooled so that's close enough. Big THANKS to Geoff for picking us up at the end of the night as well.

Other things that have been on my mind are the loyalty of friends... YUP, that is the "serious" portion of my summer. I lost a friend awhile back by my own choosing and the drama seems to have attempted to bleed all over my summertime fun. On the other side, I've GAINED some good friendships though. So really, I don't think I'm doing too badly. I'm saddened on one side but extremely happy on the other, so where do you think my concentration is going to lie? I'm not going to allow the actions of one person to ruin the fabulous times I've been having. As Catherine wrote, "Keep the drama on the stage"... hehe. I like that one.

Off to work now... I've added a bunch of new photos of this past weekend's past adventures and will be sure to add more. Today is Cheri's birthday!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRL!!! We will be celebrating on Saturday with sushi and fun, I can't wait!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-08-29T13:13:45Z</dcterms:modified>

Gosh darned ghost blog!

Yes, I'm here... I'm around. I try to pop in, I try to think of something witty to write about, but then my mind wanders, I feel tired, and I just can't think of what I REALLY wanna say. I've actually had a lot on my mind lately. Much has happened this summer to chat about really. This is the longest I've gone without writing in my blog and I feel like a poop for it too. It's been over a week!!!! How terrible am I? It's ok, I know I am so you don't have to say it.

Life moves on and sometimes faster than we wish it to. I've been frustrated lately about certain things and certain people. Some of it, I just chaulk up to plain ole grumpiness. In my old age... har har.... (shush you!!) I feel like my tolerence for fools has dimished to the size of a pea. Usually, I would blab about my frustration in here, but to "protect the innocent" I decided to keep quiet. Last time I bled my heart out in here about something, I got into some trouble with the peeps in my life... you know, the irl ones. Some of you actually pop by once and awhile still... that's awfully nice of you btw. I appreciate it.

Anyhow, what am I babbling about? I have much to babble really. But now, I am time-constrained and have to rush to an appointment. I just spent the last 20 mins catching up with Etan's blog. DUDE!!! You've been writing up a storm! I am happy to see one of us has been! LOL I quite enjoyed it too. I shall be spending time with all of this lovely circle of bloggers again... real soon. Beware, I will leave comments all over the place... because I like to. Plus, I'm just so damn chatty I can't really shut up for too long.

Have a lovely evening all and I will be back soon to grace you with my BS and stories. Thanks for coming by and not writing me off for lost. You guys ROCK the Casbah!! xoxo

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-08-24T00:00:47Z</dcterms:modified>

Echo

August is always a crazy month, isn't it?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-08-13T13:20:12Z</dcterms:modified>

I love dancing & twirling pirates...

Alright, so this video is a bit lengthy, but it's SO fun... if you like ice dancing & pirates that is. Being a land-locked northern-type pirate, this type of thing brings me great joy to behold! I hope you like it!

Friday, a few of us got together for gelati. What is summer without copious amounts of gelati? Big special thanks to our Vancouver imports... or rather, RE-imports, Alli and Raz! 2 for the price of one! Plus, it was so cool to hang with Cheri, our local giraffe. LOL Good times were had by all and we also decided that it was 80's rocker night on the street. I don't know if you managed to get the photo Raz, but that dude who walked by lookin all Axel Rose was HILARIOUS! Plus we saw a lady who was a throwback of Heart fame. Big hair, rolled bandana head bands, too-tight jeans.... who could ask for anything more 80's than that?

The next morn we headed out to the Icelandic Fest and visited the vikings. Got some photos of that... one of the best ones was this;

There are more to follow.... lol

We saw fun vendors, cool displays and awesome sandcastles from the building contest. There was a viking village with some beautiful displays of weaponry, tents and basic lifestyle examples. People were in costume and displaying different examples living the "viking way" too. I only counted around 17 crocs that assaulted my eyesite... which was pretty good considering there were way more. I avoided my eyes to people's footwear... it was too torturous otherwise. LOL We ate at a cool little cafe/bar called, "Uglies" which served us great food... even if it took a ridiculous amount of time to get it. Near the end of the day, while walking on the beach checking out the sandcastle-making contest, I found a car in the sand. But it wasn't just ANY car, it was a TRANSFORMER!! How cool is that?? Of course, being a pirate, I gots to find me treasure eh? ArrRrgh!

It was a really awesome day and a big thanks to everyone for making it so... even Alli who left all those cookies from the bakery at my apartment... and I was forced to eat them... LOL

That night a bunch of us tied one on at my place, then the pub. It was a crazy night that involved new and old friends and the world's longest dart game. I even participated in a human pyramid. Don't ask because I seriously don't know why I did that... LOL Hopefully our new friends will send us the photo so you can see proof of my silliness.

I have to say it was probably the most exciting weekend I've had so far this summer as it was packed with tonnes of activities and fun. I've been lax on getting photos posted due to my busy-ness... hehe But I promise to get them up and running this week. Annnnnd another short work week... Can it get any BETTER? HA!!

First off, let me say that I had one of the nicest experiences at a border crossing in a long time. The officers were friendly, yet efficient and I wasn't made to feel like a criminal coming into the US. So that boded well for the beginning of our trip.

Big kudos to Catherine for suggesting that I get travel insurance before we left because there was a point where I almost needed it this weekend... hehe Smooth sailing except for when I slept in... I HATE that. I don't know what the heck happened to me but I didn't hear my alarm clock which is very unusual. If PD hadn't called me, I would have slept right through! But the girls were the best and just changed schedule slightly and I was ready within an extra half hour tacked on to our original leave time. THANK YOU LADIES!!

Red Lake Falls was beautiful and we had a really nice spot by the river. There were trees for shade, plenty of picnic tables to choose from and we had a functional fire pit sans grating, but that was alright. We were total dorks setting up our site not being able to decide WHERE to put up our tents etc. But after we cracked open a drink, and chilled for a bit, we were ready to go and finished setting up our site. It was agreed that a bit of alcohol always helps the decision-making process. LOL

We met some of our neighbours and were "surprised" ha ha, to find out that the people on one side of us had 42 friends showing up for the weekend. I ask myself, "who the heck has 42 friends???" pfffft whatever. They were all under the age of 25 and so we figured the hoard was going to be pretty crazy, but that's to be expected. We were also reminded about 42 times about the 42 people that were arriving... That part got a bit annoying and by the end of the weekend, we were ready to commit crimes against 42 people.... minus one. Our "blue collar worker" Ron, who was always nice enough to pop by and share the fire, have a drink and conversation.

Tubing on the river was an experience for sure as I have never done something like that before. We woke up to a hot and sunny day with promise of even hotter weather as the time progressed. Trish, our "cook" made us a mean breakfast of bacon and eggs which was awesome and since I was up first, I started the coffee... of course. Can't function without the stuff... right Miss T? LMAO

We got our tubes, which was a chore because there were so many people there, but it worked out fine. Took our 5 + 1 tubes out on the river and floated down with no mishaps. It was very relaxing and a good time. Except when the strange boy dressed in a woman's bathing suit-complete with false boobs-swam up to our group and told us calmly, with a smile that he was going to tip each of us over. It was somewhat difficult to take him seriously as he was also toting water wings, a hockey helmet with a fake police-car-like red light attached to the top. Plus, Cath noticed that there was writing on the helmet that stated if he was lost, please return him to his campsite. A bit funny, a bit weird all at once. He proceeded to dump each of us over, but being kind enough to grab our drinks first so we didn't lose them. Then he swam away. Later on, he did a wiggly dance on a rock, shot at us with a water pistol, and did a belly flop in about 2 feet of water. Like I said... strange but funny.

We floated down the river, and ended up right at our campsite, which was cool. We just pulled up our flotilla and had some lunch, a nap, and then went back for our second run.... which was a bit more interesting.

We decided we wanted to push ourselves a bit more to the middle of the river to take off so that we could avoid some rocks from our first run. No problem. Tonia and I being the taller ones, allowed the other 3 ladies to hop on first, then we did the same... except I didn't do it so gracefully and ended up falling off of my tube. As the current snatched up our tubes, my foot got caught in one of the strings holding us together and I was dragged almost upside down for a few feet... panicking of course. The water wasn't deep, but it was strong as it shot us through a narrowish passage of rocks. I managed to get myself free of the tubes but then I couldn't get my footing because of the powerful current. It was ridiculous in a way as I was floundering in about 2 feet of water, but scary too. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't stand, I couldn't crawl, nor could I get myself balanced to float farther down. The river tossed me around on the rocks and I finally got some footing... or a hand hold (I can't remember) but I stopped moving. All that time the girls were apparently shouting at me but I don't remember hearing them. I just remember trying to keep my wits and worrying that I would get dragged under something. After some bumps, scrapes and bruises, the girls managed to get me back on a tube and we floated away. I lost my sunglasses and almost lost my hat too. I couldn't stop shaking for about half and hour. The ladies were so good to me though, and for that I was so thankful. I knew that if I started talking, I would have started bawling my eyes out from the moment of utter fear. I am not a bad swimmer, but I've never swam anywhere with a current. I grew up swimming in placid lakes with ice cold water, sandbars and lazy fish... no current, no undertow or what have you. Anyhow, I was safe, and that is what counted. The fact that my knees were already sun burnt, and the scrape on the rocks made it even more painful, didn't matter as much.

It seems that the afternoon was NOT my day, as about an hour or so later, we ended up taking on a HUGE rock (we got pushed there by a large 20-something group) and 4 of us managed to make it past, but PD did not. She ended up taking on this thing and almost flew over it. I was next to her so I grabbed her tube to try to help keep her steady. In the process, my foot got caught between her tube and the rock and I bashed my ankle on the rock. Yet another mark of bravery on the river. LOL Seriously, that was it for injuries though. Well, besides having sunburned legs and arms. Best part was my face was not sun damaged as I kept my hat on low over my eyes etc. because of the lack of glasses. It worked and I didn't risk red nose/leather-look face. Gotta love that.

Hmmmm let's see... highlights; we were constantly reminded of the "42" people next door by Ron, and the noise they made didn't help. If I have to listen to "Redneck Woman" one more time, I am going to beat someone up. I seriously can't stand country music.. no offence to you lovers of the country... I just don't like it. I can only take it in small doses...which was not the case this weekend. I don't want to save a horse and ride a cowboy, nor do I care if you are a redneck and proud of it. Just STFU and leave my poor ears in peace. hehe ANYWAYS!!! The sing along at the campsite 2 spaces down was cool. They took our shouted requests and we even sang along from our fire. The crazy Winnipeg boys that popped by and did a jig, coached us as we washed dishes and just made us laugh our faces off. They were tromping around the campground calling all the Manitobans. They dubbed Red Lake Falls, Manitoba's second capitol. LOL Too funny. There were seriously more Canadians there than Americans... he wasn't joking. They said they had a drinking contest with some Americans and blew them outta the water... LMAO Claiming they left their campsite with these other guys passed out or puking... I can't remember. Then there were the youngin's who were part of the "42" camped too close to our site. Screaming and yelling at 2:30am. DUDE!! I don't care about laughing, singing, talking etc. late at night. It's an open campground and to be expected. But I do NOT appreciate you SCREAMING out people's names and profanities next to my tent. THEN, when the loudest girl wanted to go to bed, she told the rest of them to bugger off so she could sleep!! WTF?? Way rude. One of them fell on PD's tent and PD and I shot up like a jack-in-the-box and I screamed out a nasty profanity at the silly people. We both discussed the finer points of putting an end to young lives... Some people are just so self-absorbed. In the morning, Cath was so pissed she started yelling and blasted some Fabulous Kildonans for the kiddies. I almost peed my pants laughing at her antics. Later on, these girls were in the bathrooms and didn't realise that Catherine and I were there too. They were bitching about us saying that we were over-reacting and that we were just old. ROTFLMAO!!! We both agreed later that it was almost too easy to say something at that point. Lucky for the "kids" we came out to the sinks after they left. I walked out, took one look at Catherine, and said, "God Catherine, I feel so OLD!" and we just started laughing. Wow. Was I insulted? Not really. I remember 21 and I remember how I felt about 30-somethings. But one thing I NEVER did was disrespect people like that. We all do stupid things, drink too much or whatever, but some of us remembered that there were other people sharing our space and tried to keep it down to a dull roar.

When we got back to the site, the joke for the rest of the afternoon was that we were just so OLD and couldn't do half the stuff we needed to do because we were so decrepit. LOL

Wow, this is one long entry... sorry bout that. Basically, we drove back home through Grand Forks, did some shopping and then had a fairly uneventful crossing over the border. We didn't get pulled over and the officer was decent to us. Gotta love it.

I had such a great time and am so glad I took the extra day off. Even though I am sitting here right now feeling that darned sunburn, I am happy and feeling good.

Lastly, I just want to say,

WELCOME HOME ALLISON!!!

Our Alli is on her way home from Vancouver and I just can't WAIT to see ya girl!!! Welcome home and welcome to some continuing summer adventures! We're hoping to hit Gimli this weekend for the Icelandic Festival... who's comin??

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-07-31T19:07:00Z</dcterms:modified>

Gardenin'

Wow, I've been so busy today that I didn't have ANY time to blog or visit anyone else's blog either. For that, I apologise. Right now, it's almost 1am and I decided to shoot off a little note and say that I really want to recount our adventures in campin' but I need to sleep first.

I just finished up judging gardens. LOL I volunteered to be a judge in a city-wide gardening contest. My mum and I drove around our assigned neighbourhood and checked out the nominee's gardens and using the provided criteria, rated them. I've been up late because they really want us to only pick a top 3, but we loved about 4-5 of them. It was really difficult and time-consuming. But I had a tonne of fun and it's just amazing what people do to their yards... I gotta tell ya!! I won't post much about it right now because the winners are not announced until the 18th, and I gotta be fair. I would like to do it again next year, but definitely set more time aside to do it. It's been extra-difficult because of the heat wave we've been having too. The first day we went out, it was 36C and NO wind. Talk about torture. A/C in the car or not, you still gotta get out, have the windows open etc. Today it was not quite as hot, but still unbearable. "They" are saying that the weather is going to continue to be this hot with no rain in sight. yay.

Anyhow, time for sleepies and I will catch you people later. I'm going to go back to melting in my apartment.

I wonder if one can order ice blocks still...?

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-07-31T05:49:00Z</dcterms:modified>

Sailing Home

I'm back, I'm tired, I'm burned to a crisp but happy. Great trip, great company and just full of awesome.

I wanted to check in and see what's what around here before I collapse into my nice comfy bed. Helllllooooooooooo fellow bloggers!! I hope everyone has had a great weekend and I look forward to sharing our stories with you tomorrow.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-07-30T04:42:09Z</dcterms:modified>

Sizzle

Well, I'm sitting here in my office at work... with no A/C. Ok, ok, it's not THAT bad... it's just the vents in my office and the other's on the same line that are not working. I am currently using a fan to blow the cool air from the hallway into my office. At least I have that. (As I was typing this, the repair man has arrived.... THANK GAWD) Still... makes me grumpy. blaaaahhrr!

For the last 3-ish days the temps have soared to an average of 35C (That's roughly 96-97F for you peeps to the South) To top off this lovely weather, our nights haven't cooled like they normally do, we have barely any wind, and the humidity is INSANE. I think I'm going to melt into the pavement next time I step outside. Don't get me wrong, I MUCH prefer this to the freezing -35C!! I just wish it would cool off a bit more at night because it's unbearable. My apartment doesn't get much of a breeze either when the wind DOES pick up... I say thank goodness for the old A/C window unit that came with my suite, otherwise I think I'd die. I'm on the top floor and I get all the afternoon sun... it's ridiculous. (yeah yeah, whine, whine...pffft) Whenever I pop downstairs to PD's place, I can literally feel the temperature drop as I go down the stairs... and she's only one floor below me... freaky. But her place was a boiler room last night.

We watched Pan's Labyrinth. WOW, what an AWESOME movie. If anyone hasn't seen it yet, you are missing out! Kind of creepy at times, and sometimes downright gross, but what a beautiful story and the special FX...wow. I've never been one to be freaked about subtitles either as I read fast... but I was worried I would miss out on the atmosphere if I was reading. Luckily, I didn't and enjoyed the film on all levels. Anyhow, I highly recommend it if you haven't watched it yet. If you have, did you like it?

Let's see.... what else? The ladies and I are prepping for our campin' trip this weekend. I can't WAIT... seriously. I've taken a few days off and am so glad for that. I suppose I will be posting photos of that next week sometime... I am really looking forward to getting out of the city and just relaxing, hanging out with a fab group of girls, and drinking... lol

Anyhow, it seems they have fixed our A/C fans...
