Here's the latest;

Please join me and all the other thousands of folk around the globe for Earth Hour 2008. On March 28th at 8PM I shall be shutting down for one hour. This means every light I can turn off, will go off. This also will include my PC, TV, VCR etc. etc. etc. Can you imagine what the impact of one hour could be if everyone did this? Pretty neat.

I Found Your Camera

Every week I try to head to Post Secret to check out the latest postcards that have been submitted. Last month, Post Secret came to my city and set up a display at the Art Gallery. I went to see it and it was amazing. All these people sending in their thoughts/secrets/revelations etc. was moving. It was really cool to see it up close and I highly recommend to go if it comes to your city. To find out, all you need to do is check the site (scroll to the bottom) and you will see where the latest display will be set up.

Apparently a student from the University of Winnipeg was inspired by Post Secret into making a blog called, "I Found Your Camera". Where lost cameras or USB sticks etc. can be found by thier owners. Just check out the You tube link and you can get the info there. Pretty neat idea!

Fine Print

This is taken from Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, the book I've been slogging through over the last few months. Life has gotten so hectic lately that this is the longest I've ever taken to read a book. But it's a great book so it's worth it. Plus, it's given me a few epiphanies of which one I'd like to share here;

"People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I've learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one's reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one's master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person's view requires to be faked. And if one gains the immediate purpose of the lie-the price one pays is the destruction of that which the gain was intended to serve. The man who lies to the world, is the world's slave from then on."

I thought that was incredibly eye-opening...

Question to you dear readers; What value do you place on your pets? (if you have them) I mean, if someone were to come along and tell you that you needed to get rid of them, would you move heaven and earth to keep them or would you sadly let them go? Are you a person who feels that a pet is a member of the family or just a "pet"? I'm curious.

When I went through my divorce, we luckily didn't have kids or pets. So division of assets went pretty smoothly. But I'm wondering what you would do in the case where there ARE pets? (not kids, that's a whole other story). How would you feel if your soon-to-be ex wants the dog or the cat? How would you handle that? What value do you place upon such a thing, if any?

It's a sad thing because no matter what, someone always loses in the end. My mum lost her cat in the big "D" recently and is rather devastated over it. I am too because I know what kind of monster kitty is stuck with now. And it's not like they have special visitation rights in my province either... not like she'd want any contact with the bum anyhow. But now, she has to let go of a pet that she bonded with and it's not easy for her.

Should a person be compensated when the other person takes the family pet in a separation/divorce?

SO!! What are your thoughts... I'm curious.

I sent this to a friend of mine today who was accused of doing a bad thing for the wrong reasons when in essence, she did the RIGHT thing for the RIGHT reasons. Sometimes we get torn in the middle of drama that we didn't ask to be a part of. Sometimes we choose not to say anything even though the act may disturb our senses. Sometimes when it just gets to be too heavy of a burden to bear, we speak up, and say something. Then sometimes, what we say, isn't received well.

There are times to keep quiet, and then there are times to speak up. When someone is your friend, and you care about them, and they are doing something that is not only damaging themselves, but others around them, you gotta speak up. The saying that "sticks and stones" doesn't hold water with me. Words CAN hurt you along with deeds etc. I applaud my friend for sticking to her guns and saying what needed to be told. It was the right situation in my opinion to do so. It was out of love and kindness and not vindictiveness. The party that received her message took it wrongly and is stuck in the dark of their ignorance. But my friend, is now freed of her burden and for that reason, I know she did the right thing!

Speak up to someone out of kindness and you will always walk away with a clean concience.
